About ADHD Lab UK

ADHD Lab UK Ltd is an independent healthcare service providing specialist adult ADHD assessment, diagnosis and treatment. We operate as a fully remote service, providing care to adults across the United Kingdom through secure video consultations.

Our aim is to provide safe, effective and person-centred care in accordance with relevant professional standards, regulatory requirements and evidence-based guidance, including NICE Guideline NG87.

Our Services

ADHD Lab UK Ltd provides a remote clinical pathway for adults seeking assessment and treatment for ADHD. Depending on individual clinical needs and suitability, our services may include:

  • Adult ADHD diagnostic assessments
  • Medication initiation and titration where clinically appropriate
  • Ongoing medication monitoring and clinical review
  • Clinical reports and communication with GPs or other relevant professionals, with appropriate consent
  • Shared care requests with a patient's GP where appropriate
  • Signposting to alternative or additional services where required

All clinical services are delivered remotely. The provision of any particular treatment, including medication, is subject to clinical assessment and professional judgement.

Eligibility and Suitability

ADHD Lab UK Ltd provides services to adults aged 18+ who are seeking assessment and/or treatment for ADHD.

As our service is fully remote, it may not be suitable for every individual or clinical situation. Suitability for remote assessment and treatment will be considered throughout the care pathway. Where we determine that safe or appropriate care cannot be provided remotely, we may recommend or signpost the patient to an alternative service.

ADHD Lab UK Ltd is not an emergency or crisis service.

Appointments and Assessments

Appointments are conducted remotely using secure video consultation systems. Patients will be provided with relevant information before their appointment and are responsible for ensuring that they can attend from a suitable, private environment.

Patients may be asked to:

  • Complete questionnaires or provide information before an assessment
  • Provide accurate and complete medical, mental health and medication information
  • Provide proof of identity where required
  • Provide relevant physical health observations where clinically necessary
  • Consent to appropriate communication with their GP or other healthcare professionals

Patients must provide information that is accurate to the best of their knowledge. Additional information may be requested where necessary to enable safe clinical decision-making.

ADHD Diagnosis

ADHD assessments are undertaken using a comprehensive, evidence-based approach and consider information gathered during the clinical assessment alongside relevant medical, developmental and mental health history.

An assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis of ADHD. A diagnosis will only be made where the appropriate diagnostic criteria are met and the clinician is satisfied that there is sufficient information to reach a clinically appropriate conclusion.

Where ADHD is diagnosed, the clinician will discuss the outcome with you and explain the treatment options that may be available. Where a diagnosis is not made, appropriate advice or signposting may be provided where relevant.

Medication and Prescribing

Medication may be offered following an ADHD diagnosis where it is considered clinically appropriate and safe to do so. Prescribing decisions are made on an individual basis following consideration of relevant physical health, mental health, medical history, current medication and potential risk factors.

Where medication is initiated, treatment will be monitored and reviewed to assess effectiveness, side effects and physical health. Medication and dosage may be adjusted where clinically appropriate.

Prescribing is undertaken in accordance with relevant professional standards and evidence-based guidance, including NICE Guideline NG87.

Medication costs are not included within ADHD Lab UK Ltd's treatment fees and are charged separately by the dispensing pharmacy. Costs will vary depending on the medication prescribed and dosage required. ADHD Lab UK Ltd charges a £20 administration fee for issuing each private prescription, which is separate from the medication cost charged by the dispensing pharmacy.

Shared Care

Where clinically appropriate, ADHD Lab UK Ltd may request a shared care arrangement with your GP once treatment has been established and your  treatment is considered stable.

Shared care is subject to the agreement of your GP and cannot be guaranteed by ADHD Lab UK Ltd. Your GP has the right to accept or decline a shared care request.

If your GP declines shared care, ADHD Lab UK Ltd will discuss the options available to you, which may include continuing private prescribing and monitoring or planning an appropriate discharge from the service.

Patient Responsibilities

To enable us to provide safe and appropriate care, patients are expected to provide accurate and complete information about their health, medical history, current medication and any changes that may affect their treatment.

Patients are also responsible for attending scheduled appointments, completing requested forms or monitoring, following agreed treatment and prescribing instructions, and informing ADHD Lab UK Ltd of any side effects, concerns or significant changes in their physical or mental health.

Patients should inform us if they withdraw consent for any aspect of their care or information sharing.
